Liverpool Youngster Harvey Elliott has urged the club to commit Mohammed Salah as contract talks with the Egyptian have stalled.

Elliott was a sensation for Liverpool since joining Jurgen Klopp’s first-team, the 18-year-old has been rewarded with a new contract this summer. He wasn’t the only one as Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson all signed long-term deals.

However, Salah is Liverpool’s star by far and the Reds are yet to agree a new contract for the Egyptian as his contract expires at the end of next season. But Elliott has overwhelmingly pledged his support by revealing his “love” for Salah.

Speak with UMMElliott said: “Who wouldn’t want to play with Mo Salah? In my opinion, he’s the best in the world. With Trent on the right, it’s a dream for any youngster.”

Elliott has been on the right side of Liverpool’s midfield three on numerous occasions this season, slotting between Alexander-Arnold and Salah in a ferocious attack. And with these stars around him, his development as a youngster will only be more impactful, but there is a risk of Salah leaving.

Talks were interrupted when Klopp recently claimed Liverpool had “done everything they can” and that an “offer was already on the table” for Salah. But that was answered with a bunch of laughing emojis on the Twitter Profile of Salah’s agents, suggesting they see things differently than the Liverpool boss.

Salah has already admitted he wants to stay at Liverpool and the Egyptian has said he ‘isn’t asking much’ to stay at the club. However, he said he wants to “feel valued” as one of the best players in the world, which Elliott and his teammates clearly feel is who he already is.

The Egyptian has been exceptional since signing in 2017 and has helped Liverpool win their debut First League title, and also added a sixth Champions League trophy in your collection. But the owners of Fenway Sports Group have always operated with a strict pay structure, and there is a reluctance to break it.

Salah is likely to ask for a huge package that would smash Liverpool’s record deal but in the current football climate it’s not an uncommon request. But Liverpool operate under a strict system and FSG continue to make sure players know there’s no bigger club than them.

Liverpool fans were overjoyed over the summer as so many stars agreed to new long-term deals, but it may have worked against the club as they struggle to tie Salah. If they were to offer the Egyptian a deal, it could cause internal problems as players could become dissatisfied with their own contracts.

But Elliott clearly thinks Salah is the best in the world and the Egyptian is a popular character in the dressing room. So could FSG make an exception and allow his teammates to accept that he’s a top talent?

Only time will tell, although not much is left as Salah’s value is rapidly declining every month. For now, Liverpool will want to focus on lifting as many trophies as possible this season, with the quadruple still pending, but attention will certainly be on Salah in the summer.
