A MAN has been fined £10,000 for leaving three dogs in a hot car without water.

Mark Agyeman-Anane has been ordered to pay a total of £10,000 by Brighton judges after he was caught causing unnecessary suffering to the dogs in Portslade on August 10, 2020.

The dogs were named Prince, Dior and Caramel.

The 27-year-old denied the offenses but was found guilty by Brighton Magistrates Court.

Court documents say he caused unnecessary harm by leaving the dogs in a hot car with no access to water for two hours and failing to regularly check on the dogs’ welfare.

Agyeman-Anane of Grove Road, Hastings, received a parish charter. By July 7, 2023, as part of a rehabilitation activity, he must follow any instructions from the officer in charge to attend appointments (with the officer in charge or another person designated by him) or participate in activities requested by the officer in charge up to a maximum of 5 days.

Agyeman-Anane will also have to do 120 hours of unpaid work over the next twelve months. This work is monitored by the responsible clerk.

He was disqualified for having custody of a dog for five years.

He was found not guilty the same day at Portslade under Section 1 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 of possession or custody of a fighting dog, namely a pit bull terrier named Caramel. According to court documents, the charges were dropped.

He has to pay the £10,000 compensation by August 5.
