Health tech company Legato is looking to create 80 jobs at its Limerick center, bringing the research facility’s workforce to 200 by mid-2023.

The IDA Ireland-backed company, which arrived in Ireland last September, is recruiting software engineers and data scientists, it said on Friday.

Legato provides data analytics, IT services and business support to US health insurers with a team of more than 20,000 professionals located in the US, India, Ireland and the Philippines.

“Legato entered the Irish market last September with the announcement of 60 jobs,” said Robert Troy, Minister of State for Trade Promotion.

“To be fast approaching 200 positions with today’s announcement reflects the company’s ambition and commitment to its location here in Limerick.

“It also sheds a very positive light on Limerick and the wider Midwest region as a location for foreign investment. As a government, we are committed to creating the right ecosystem in the regions for businesses to invest and grow.”

John Patrick Shaw, Legato’s country head in Ireland, said the company “had a really good start to life in Limerick”.

“We have exciting growth plans here and, from a standing start last September, following today’s commitment we are now heading towards 200 employees in the next year. This is a path we want to continue.”

Kieran Donoghue, global head of international financial services at IDA Ireland, said attracting jobs and investment in regional locations is central to the agency’s strategy.

Legato is based in Limerick’s National Technology Park, where it has a research and development centre.

The company expects to hire up to 120 people in the coming months and to fill all 200 new positions by summer 2023.
