Heartstopper Netflix cast – from rising star student to actor Elton John

Netflix’s Heartstopper adaptation has topped charts around the world, with a surprise appearance from A-list actors. Here’s the full cast of the show, including some familiar faces belong.

Heartstopper debuted on Netflix last month, and continues to dominate the charts worldwide.

The eight-episode series follows the friendship of school kids Charlie Spring and Nick Nelson, who eventually form an unlikely romance. It has received rave reviews from the LGBTQ+ community for its positive depictions of same-sex love, as well as addressing issues such as homophobia, homophobia, and bullying.

Fans of the coming-of-age show were quick to spot Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman, who appeared as Nick’s supportive mother. But Colman isn’t the only A-lister to join the cast. Comedian Stephen Fry subtly appears on the show in the form of the principal’s tannoid announcement – though his face is never shown.

Heartstopper’s Netflix Cast

Joe Locke, who plays the show’s main character, became an internet sensation overnight but had no acting experience before Heartstopper.

Talking about the audition process on This Morning, the 18-year-old said: “I’ve never acted professionally before, so they invited public auditions… I think 10,000 people auditioned and you no agent needed, just sent in an autobiographical tape.

“I think, even if I don’t get it, that’s pretty cool. [But] then I got another callback and I was like ‘Oh, what if this actually happens?’. I finally got the part and it was just, all my dreams came true. “

Nick Nelson, Locke’s on-screen boyfriend, is played by British actor Kit Connor, who starred in Get Santa at the age of eight. Most people, however, would recognize the star for playing the young Elton John in the singer’s biopic Rocketman.

BAFTA-nominated actor Sebastian Croft plays the show’s villain Ben Hope. You will probably recognize him from Game of Thrones, or even the movie History of Horrors!

Tobie Donovan, Yasmin Finney, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Rhea Norwood and William Gao all made their acting debuts with Heartstopper.
