Hepworth’s opens new tap room at Pulborough Brewery

A BREWERY has opened its own taproom on site where customers can enjoy a range of home grown beers and food.

The Hepworth and Company Tap Room opened its doors at its Pulborough location last week.

The Tap Room is open Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 5.30pm and Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm and serves snacks, coffee and a selection of award-winning beers including low alcohol beers.

Hot food is offered on Thursdays and Fridays by a series of ‘pop-ups’ with an emphasis on quality and local ingredients, such as: Take Rudgwick-based Italy on Wheels, for example.

Bands perform on Friday nights, with an emphasis on local artists. Entertainment at the Tap Room kicked off with popular covers from the Davy Wavy Band and other names set to play over the coming weeks.

Hepworth’s is also launching a competition for students from the Chichester College Group, challenging them to create a ‘next generation’ taproom and brewery shop to open within the next 12 months.

Brewery Founder and Chairman Andy Hepworth said: “We are delighted to have a taproom where we can serve our patrons a pint and a bite.

“We expect it to evolve into a versatile space: from a café-bar serving morning visitors coffee – or one of our non-alcoholic beers – to a lively venue with live music on Friday nights.

“We are also excited about the design plans that will take the Tap Room and Shop to the next level.

“It’s great to be working with Chichester College Group and helping to encourage creativity and design in young people early in their careers.

“We can’t wait to see their ideas and work with the winner to make them a reality.”

The focal point of the Tap Room is a wooden bar with beer taps attached to the back bar creating a contemporary feel.

Guests can enjoy a pint at the bar or sit down at one of the tables, with the space accommodating up to 60 people.

The Stane Street brewery’s Tap Room was set up in just seven weeks by Hepworth’s recently appointed Tap Room and Events Manager Matt Tobin, who previously ran The Star in Petworth and ran online beer retailer Beer Hop, which specializes in American craft beers was .
