Queen’s historic Platinum Jubilee marked with gun salutes
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations have been formally marked right now as gun salutes have been fired throughout the nation to mark Her Majesty’s 70-year reign.
At midday the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, named by the Queen’s father King George VI, 75 years in the past, fired a 41-gun salute from London’s Inexperienced Park.
The ceremony occurred a day after February 6, Accession Day, when Princess Elizabeth turned Queen Elizabeth II, because the anniversary fell on a Sunday.
