Okay, I don’t know about you, but I’m getting seriously mixed signals here. It seems like semantics that I’m reading too much, but saying “all three seasons” makes it look like “The Orville” is coming to an end after the end of the third season and the whole story is coming to Disney+. There’s a bit about staying on Hulu, but again there’s no mention of new episodes streaming there. Also, if this news is to be taken for granted, it could be that Disney is doing everything it can to get their attention on a great show they are behind.
Although it started out as a workplace comedy aboard a spaceship, “The Orville” has evolved into a great mix of “Star Trek,” “Star Wars,” and “Galaxy Quest” thanks to into their budget and the group’s creativity more control over the tune. As a result, “The Orville: New Horizons” really has some of the best sci-fi and best storytelling on “television” right now, and it deserves a lot more viewing. The episodes illuminating Peter Macon and his family’s Lieutenant Commander Bortus were enough to get some attention during awards season, but the entire cast got its fair share of gripping moments, understandable and heartbreaking throughout the latest installment.
Depending on how the final episode of season 3 goes, it’s easy to see how things could end after episode nine, but hopefully we don’t have to worry about that for a while. And if we do, here’s the hope that MacFarlane can suggest Disney take the “Star Trek” route and bring his crew to the big screen for a field adventure. discount.
The final season (or series?) of “Orville: New Horizons” will air on Hulu on August 4, 2022.
