Here’s why you’re wrong about Olena Zelenska’s Vogue photoshoot

It’s fair to say that Olena Zelenska’s Vogue cover has sparked some controversy. The evocative images in Portrait of Bravery: Ukraine’s First Lady – a digitally released collection – drew mixed reactions online after their release.

In one of the images, Zelenska holds the collar of her navy blue trench coat against a backdrop of war-damaged machines painted in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The cargo plane pictured – the world’s largest – was damaged in its hangar during Russian shelling in February. Also captured in the picture are three Ukrainian soldiers.
