‘He’s a great player’ – Mike Catt wary of threat from Blair Kinghorn at Aviva

Scotland and Ireland will meet for their first post-pandemic party tomorrow night – but Ireland is hoping that Scotland’s shock out-of-half selection Blair Kinghorn doesn’t play the game in his dinner suit.

or for the first time since Ireland host Wales in 2020, the men’s and women’s committees, as well as players and staff, will assemble to perform their official post-match function – allowing testing antigens – and Ireland will be hoping to march the Triple Crown while hoping for England to win them the title in Paris.

Offensive coach Mike Catt, however, is warning against giving Kinghorn a freestyle on the Aviva field.

“I’ve seen some movies about Blair and he’s a great player,” said the former England mainstay.

“I think he had a good run, he was explosive, he had a run through hell and if he had the time and space, his game was special too.

“We like to think we’re not going to give him the chance to sit back and play the game in the dinner suit.

“So it’s important that we go after him but as a rugby player and what he’s going to do for Scotland that’s huge so he’s a threat. big for us.”

The ferocious demon of Scotland, rushing forward, is expecting big things from the man who was promoted before Finn Russell.

“I think it’s really interesting. I’ve been playing with Blair since he joined Edinburgh when he was 18 or something. I’m really happy for him; that was interesting to him.

“I guess he’s like Finn – he’s a very cool guy off the pitch, very calm. I think that will help us tomorrow.

“I don’t think he’s going to let the opportunity come his way. He’s been playing fantastic for Edinburgh this season, really exciting and hopefully he can take that to the international stage.

“If we get to win in Ireland – it’s going to be a pretty tough task, I think – it’s going to be a good way to end the tournament.”
