In a recent interview with Leo Edit, Norman Reedus seemed to go all-in when it came to mentioning death stranding and a possible sequel. When asked about his work on the original game, Reedus replied, “We just started the second one.” Oops.
Norman needn’t worry, however, as Hideo Kojima publicly responded to the rumors with a simple tweet.
The tweet consists of a handful of photos of the couple, released to celebrate Reedus’ work on The Walking Dead series, accompanied by the caption, “Go to your private room my friend.” Coupled with a sweet thumbs-up and a heart-eye emoji to boot, there’s no doubt the pair clearly have a friendship like no other.

While the tweet doesn’t specifically mention Reedus’ interview responses, there’s certainly room to insinuate that Kojima is trying to achieve something. In Death Stranding, the protagonist Sam Bridges (played by Norman Reedus) retreats to a private room when he needs to rest and recover.
Additionally, before mentioning Death Stranding 2, Reedus’ interview with Leo Edit was primarily intended to focus on his role as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. The combination of photo and caption certainly makes a subtle reference to the interview.
In light-hearted Hideo Kojima fashion, this seems to be the developer-writer’s way of publicly giving his friend a light slap on the hand.
It’s clear to see that while there won’t be much of a surprise about a Death Stranding 2 announcement, Hideo Kojima doesn’t seem too upset with Reedus for releasing the project early.
