Highway Code rule change affects electric cars

Electric vehicle drivers will be instructed on how to use electric vehicle charging points in the updated Highway Code.

The revised Highway Code, which comes into effect on January 29, will advise drivers of electric cars on how to use charging points safely.

Highway Code Rule 239 explains what motorists should do if they have to stop on the side of the road.

There have been other changes to rule 239, including the recommended way to open car doors from the inside.
