THIS hilarious photo shows workers having to repave a road around a BMW after the driver failed to move the car.
Signs were put up on Huntley Street in Darlington warning local residents that maintenance work would be carried out on May 9th and 10th.
Traffic cones were also placed along the road as a reminder.
But one driver obviously didn’t understand the message and left his gray BMW on the street.
Photos show workers performing the resurfacing had to work around the car, while a patch under the vehicle remained unfinished.
Images of the car were also circulated on Facebook by social media users in Darlington.
One poster wrote: “Oops. Someone didn’t read the street signs.
However, others speculated as to why the car was left behind, with some suggesting that the owner may have been on holiday or hospitalized ill.
“What annoys me is that they should have moved the traffic cones to park the car. The signs were there a few days before the work was done,” added one commenter.
“There’s always one,” added another, “should have paved it,” said another, while others called for it to be towed and the cost charged to the owner.
The residential street is near Darlington train station in the center of town, and commentators were also quick to point out that parking there is free.
A Darlington Council spokesman said: “As the vehicle in question was parked in an area with no parking restrictions, we are unable to take any action against the driver on this occasion.
“Attempts have been made to contact the owner to ask them to remove it but so far to no avail.
“While this means the resurfacing has been done around the vehicle and has left a patch – this will be done at a later date when the car is finally removed, but it means an additional cost to the community and the patch will be visible.
“With the aim of avoiding such situations, signs indicating planned maintenance work are put up in good time.”
