Hideo Devey Reflects on Her Time on ‘Dragons Den’

Dragons’ star Den Hilary Devey has died aged 65.

The businessman’s representative confirmed that Hilary had passed away in Morocco after battling a protracted illness.

Hilary was at her motel when she passed away on Saturday night.

A spokesperson said: “I can confirm that Hilary sadly passed away yesterday.

“She’s been sick for a while.”

Hilary rose to fame appearing on The Secret Millionaire in 2008 and then The Business Inspector in 2010.

Her big break came with the BBC’s Dragons’ Den, where the Bolton native’s no-nonsense approach became a hit with fans.

Theo Paphitis was one of the first Dragons to pay tribute to Hilary when the sad news was announced on Sunday.

The retail mogul tweeted: “So sad to hear the lovely Hilary Devey has passed away. She has left us all great memories, may she rest in peace. My thoughts are with with her family.”

Hilary stayed with the show for just a year after leaving when she obtained a contract to join the Loose Women panel in 2015.

Her popularity is far from an overnight success.

After leaving school at the age of 16, Hilary took on a variety of jobs – including stints with RAF for women – before finding a fortune when she founded her own business.

The enterprising star decided to sell his house and car to start a multi-million dollar Pall-Ex business.

Hilary was inspired to set up a freight network while working as an office worker for a delivery company.

One day, Hilary overheard one of the drivers complaining that he would have to wait until morning to load his truck so he could drive to his destination.

Hilary’s business helps drivers pool their transportation.

Despite achieving a ‘bright moment’, Hilary’s bank loan application was rejected.

She had to sell most of her possessions to raise funds to start her business, but the rewards came at age 40 when she made her first million dollars.

Hilary’s personal life is also turbulent.
