Avalanche Software has lifted the curtain on the Hogwarts Legacy. In the Special Play State, the 20-minute show is dedicated to introducing new gameplay and story details.
As seen in today’s State of Play, the Hogwarts Legacy will allow players to live a full wizarding life as a fifth year student at Hogwarts. That includes a witch match with another classmate, cooking potions in class, flying on a broomstick, and exploring the school grounds in your free time.
Avalanche Software has also shared some plot details for the Hogwarts Legacy, where players are tasked with investigating a rumored goblin rebellion led by an elf named Ranrok. Note further that there is an “unpleasant alliance” between elves and dark magicians.
As previously confirmed when the game was announced in 2020, Hogwarts Legacy is set in the late 1800s. Avalanche Software notes in the latest PlayStation Blog that the decision to place it this time around was to “ensure Make sure your legend is never eclipsed by any other hero.” Although the developer has assured Wizarding World fans that the gameplay will be “familiar with everything you love about the Harry Potter series.”
Today’s broadcast also details the gameplay mechanics and new features included in the Hogwarts Legacy, including the Talent system, where you can upgrade specific skills such as stealth or abilities effectively use the abilities you learn while in the Room of Requirement.
The game has stirred up discussion about its connection to Harry Potter author JK Rowling, who has become known for his magical commentary in recent years. Warner Bros. said the author was not directly involved with the game, but management said “she has the right to express her personal views”. Reports have suggested that the game will allow transgender characters to be created.
Hogwarts Legacy is slated to launch this holiday.
