Phillip Schofield caresses Boris Johnson over Partygate apology

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield couldn’t resist a caress before Boris Johnson’s Partygate apology today on This Morning.

It comes after the Prime Minister apologized for his Partygate penalty in the House of Commons yesterday – but again claimed he did not know his own Covid rules.

He issued a “not serious” apology – before immediately denying that he had intentionally misled MPs by saying “all instructions have been fully followed” in No10.

Appearing on This Morning today, Phil referred to his remarks as he said: “Following the prime minister’s apology… by the prime minister to parliament for breaking his own ban, forgiveness was the subject. of our phone call today.”

As Phil tried not to laugh, he continued: “Here’s what he said…”

A clip was later aired of Mr Johnson as he told MPs: “I also ask permission to speak not in a mitigating or pleasurable way – but purely because it explains my previous words at House of Commons – that it didn’t happen to me then or afterwards that a gathering in the Cabinet room just before an important meeting on Covid strategy could lead to a breach of the rules.”

Phil was later seen raising an eyebrow when Holly said, “Well, Deirdre will be here later. What can people contact each other about later?”

Phil quips: “Boris can call, can’t he?”

Holly exclaimed: “Yes, Boris called us!”

“Yes, we are talking about forgiveness,” Deirdre said. “Saying sorry can be hard, right? And maybe you think someone owes you an apology and you really want them to say sorry before you can move on from there.”

She continued: “Or maybe someone apologized because they didn’t seem sincere, it’s about a gesture, and you don’t really think they’re sorry and you really can’t. Forgive me. Or maybe you know you should say sorry to someone – you know you did something wrong but you’re really struggling to say it because we know it’s the hardest thing to say.”
