The political student spoke solemnly as she explained to Holly why she chose to return to her homeland during a time of crisis.
When asked why she decided to leave London and her beloved mother, Valentina insisted she needed to be there ‘for her country and her people’.
“The moment this war started, I think my future became very simple for me,” Valentina said.
“My future is to protect my country and rebuild my country.
“My identity and what’s valuable to me is tied to these people and this land, and everything I do in the future, it has to be about rebuilding and redeveloping Ukraine – because this is where my identity is.
“I don’t see any other path, or I don’t want to see any other.”
Holly, emotional, then asked Valentina about her dear mother, who was worried about her brave daughter as she watched the horrors of the war play out in the vehicles. media from London.
“I can’t stop thinking about your poor mother. First, she must be so proud of you – you are an incredible woman.
“But she probably just wants you back in London, where you’re safe. Doesn’t your mother want you back and safe?”
Fighting back tears, Holly encouraged Valentina to explain her reasons for staying in Ukraine.
“You know, there’s always this conflict going on in this moment of crisis between what you personally desire and what you want for the people you love. Of course I miss my mother, of course she wants to. I am at peace.
“I really miss my mom, but she’s also the one who taught me strength and bravery.”
Valentina ended her inspirational conversation by telling Holly that she was sure that the people of Ukraine could rebuild their country together after the horrors of the war in 2022.
