Holly said: “There’s no excuse for any violence, and it’s an attack on someone. Whether people say it or not, ‘It was just a joke’.

“It’s a joke about someone having a condition, obviously for her, you can see her reaction immediately.

“She didn’t want to be put in an auditorium, it wasn’t fun at all, that’s what she was living with.”

After initially saying there was “no excuse” for the violence earlier in the show, Holly and Phil then spoke to viewers and asked for their opinions.

It seemed rather divisive, as one viewer supported Will’s response after her own experiences with a health battle, while others said he should take his award.

Phil added that it seemed like he was being “reprimanded” by the entire world, before Holly shared that she thought Will was “trying to change the story” during the blast, by making jokes about it.

Viewers said: “Will is still at such a high level, he has to resort to violence and I think if it were any of our kids they would be reprimanded so I think he should too. Blamed.”

Phil told her: “I think the world seems to be reprimanding him at the moment, or certainly a lot.”

Holly then talked about video clips of him dancing after his marriage and joking: “He’s trying to clearly change the way this story is told.
