Actor Taron Egerton collapsed on stage on the opening night of his new play.
The 32-year-old – best known for playing Eggsy in Kingsman and Elton John in Rocketman – passed out on stage and was replaced at the last minute by a small practitioner.
Thankfully, a doctor was present in the audience watching the show and came to his aid last night.
Today, on his Instagram Stories, Taron reassured fans that he was recovering and wrote: “As some of you may have heard, I fainted during the first COCK performance last night.
“I’m completely fine. My neck hurts and I’m bruised all over, but I’m fine.
“I’ve decided to put a positive opinion on it and I would appreciate it if anyone who was in the cinema last night just said I gave a committed performance and so full of electricity that my body can’t handle it, and test that. Granted, it sounds like you want to actually do the whole program, not just 3/4. So I’ll be back. with vengeance tomorrow night.
“Thank you to the amazing team at the theater and to my wonderful co-stars for being so lovely.
“But mostly I want to say thank you to Joel Harper Jackson, who played the final part of the play.
“Joel is a great actor and a lovely person. Thank you, Joel. Tx.”
The play’s producer released a statement last night, which read: “During the first preview tonight of Mike Bartlett’s play The Rooster at the Ambassador Theatre, Taron Egerton fainted at the end of the performance.
“A doctor in the auditorium went to see Taron shortly after the incident, and while he was feeling fine, it was decided that Joel Harper-Jackson would reprise Taron’s role to complete the task. into a performance.”
