Hollywood star Nicholas Cage will shoot his latest film – an action thriller – on location in Ireland.
Sand and Stones’ has begun filming on location in Dublin, with the Leaving Las Vegas and Con Air star starring in the post-apocalyptic thriller.
The actor recently boarded a plane from Los Angeles to prepare for the filming of the movie.
A young cast including It star Jaeden Martell, Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) and Sadie Sooverall from Netflix’s Fate: The Winx Saga have been signed to star alongside the Oscar winner.
The film is set in a sparsely populated future world where ordinary life has disappeared. Cage will play Paul, a man who finds his existence on his farm with twin sons Thomas and Joseph.
They are one of the few people left to hide from the ferocious creatures that hunt them down at night. When a small mistake puts them in imminent danger, they must make a desperate plan to survive.
A brief description on imdb.ie reveals: “A survival action thriller about a father and his twin sons trying to survive the ferocious Creatures that attack a remote farm. their.”
The film will be directed by Benjamin Brewer, who has a number of film and music videos credited. He also worked on visual effects for this year’s hit movie Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Arianne Fraser of Highland Film Group said: “We are extremely excited to be partnering with Nicolas, a brilliant actor whose global influence and legendary appeal are second to none,” said Arianne Fraser of Highland. Film Group said when the project was first announced last month.
The 58-year-old star has a big-screen career spanning decades with Hollywood hits including Ghost Rider, National Treasure and Face/Off among his big-screen work.
Over the past few years, he’s received strong reviews for the indie horror film Pig and the super comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which he plays a Hollywood starlet named Nic Cage.
