Steven Seagal reiterated his support for Vladimir Putin and his allies at a party in Moscow to mark his 70th birthday, it turns out.
The star of several Hollywood action films, including Under Siege, attended a dinner held in his honor at a Moscow restaurant on Sunday.
According to The Times, among the allies present at the event were Russian state TV host Vladimir Soleviev and Russian journalist Margarita Simonyan, both of whom were placed on an EU sanctions list in response to Putin’s invasion Ukraine.
In a video circulated on Twitter, Seagal, who previously called Putin “one of the greatest world leaders, if not the greatest world leader alive today,” could be seen calling everyone in the room “my family and friends.”
He added in English, with a translator at his side: “I love you all and we stand together through thick and thin.”
Seagal’s praise for Putin comes as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine enters its sixth week. In March, Seagal told Fox News Digital that he sees both Russia and Ukraine “as one family.”
“Most of us have friends and family in Russia and Ukraine,” he said at the time. “I look at them both as a family and really believe it’s an outside entity that spends huge sums of money on propaganda to get the two countries to be at odds with each other.
“I pray that both countries will come to a positive, peaceful resolution where we can live and prosper together in peace,” Seagal added.
In 2018, Russia appointed the Above The Law actor as a special envoy to improve relations with the US.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said Seagal’s responsibility will be to “facilitate relations between Russia and the United States in the humanitarian sphere, including cultural, artistic, public relations and youth exchange cooperation.”

When Seagal received his Russian citizenship in 2017, Ukraine banned him from entering the country due to escalating fighting between Russian rebels and Ukrainian forces in eastern Ukraine.
