According to Daft.ie, home bidders in Ireland have placed real estate offers worth over a billion euros online since February.

The property site has released figures from its new online listing tool, Offers by Daft, which allows interested buyers to post and track listings for properties online.

Launched earlier this year, the free platform offers transparency and flexibility for home buyers, brokers and sellers.

Buyers can view existing offers for an object in real time and submit their own at any time.

The results show that 40 percent of bidders place bids outside of working hours, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. and over the weekend.

Research shows that bidders in Cork are among the biggest adopters of the tool, closely followed by Dublin. €335,750 is the average property value of properties using the online listing tool.

Three bedroom semi-detached houses are currently the most popular properties with online listings available. The average time from the opening of the online listing to the agreed sale of a property is 21 days.

Daft’s chief commercial officer said the tool is a “direct answer” to the needs of those who use the site on a daily basis.

Adam Ferguson said the aim of the online quoting tool is to “improve the journey for everyone involved”.

“We know that buying a home can be both a very emotional and a very stressful journey for the buyer,” he said.

“And from our close relationship with agents, we know that the process takes a tremendous amount of administration and time, especially when it comes to managing bids and bidders. We wanted to develop a product that addresses these vulnerabilities.

“At Daft we understand that no one is better placed than the Estate Agent to provide Ireland’s homebuyers with the very best experience. We believe that Offers by Daft allows the agent to focus on the client and provides a great experience for both the buyer and seller of a property.

“For the homebuyer it offers complete transparency and flexibility – they can bid on any device at a time that suits them. It saves many hours of valuable time for all parties.”
