Homes Under The Hammer’s Martin Roberts has been discharged from hospital just a week after undergoing emergency surgery.
Last week, Martin, 58, was rushed to hospital after experiencing chest pain and had “hours to live”.
He required a life-saving surgery to correct the fluid detected around his heart.
On Thursday (April 28), the popular TV presenter, host of the much-loved Houses Under the Hammer, posted a short video from the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Talking to fans through the camera on his phone, he said: “They [the hospital] i had a cardiac MRI this morning and found that i have a few essential issues left that they will check over the next few months to check they are not getting worse, hopefully they are just getting better.
“The breathing part of the stuff I’m going to get on with it and then have follow-up meetings with the respiratory team.
“For now, they’ve decided that they’ve done what they can and I’d better stay home.”
When he posted the short clip to his social media channels, he captioned it: “A little update.
“Thank you to the amazing NHS guys – especially the teams in A&E and the Cardiovascular Care Unit at RUH in Bath, who saved my life.
“And thank YOU for all your incredible messages of love and support. They mean the world to me.”
Last week, while recovering in the hospital, Martin shared about the moment he witnessed doctors stab an “8-inch needle” into his chest during a race to save his life.
“It’s the closest thing to not being here has ever happened to me,” Martin said while he was in hospital recuperating.
He said he started feeling worse during the Easter Bank holiday, but his symptoms subsided like Covid persisted or asthma.
By the Wednesday after the Easter Bank Holiday, he thought he was having a heart attack and was taken to the hospital by his wife Kirsty.
After a series of emergency tests, doctors soon discovered that the TV star was suffering from excess fluid around her heart.
The fluid was preventing his heart from pumping correctly.
Speaking in an interview with ALRIGHT! Martin said: “In my case, it switched to something called cardiac tamponade, where it quickly filled up and started suffocating the heart. And that’s… that’s the killer. It has a killer. may lead to death.”
Opening up about the horrifying moment when a doctor inserted an 8-inch syringe into his chest to suck up the fluid, Martin recalled: “I watched them drain one tube after another and one after another. this.
“I was awake for this, but I was a little nervous.
“There’s a tube that goes through my chest cavity, into the one that surrounds my heart.”
They then pulled out the liquid and sprayed it into “a plastic cup”.
“In the end there was about a liter and a half of what they took out.”
