Martin Roberts tries to hold back tears as he returns to work

Martin Roberts made an emotional return to Homes Under The Hammer on Tuesday after undergoing emergency heart surgery.

The presenter was rushed to hospital last month with ‘hours to live’ after experiencing chest pains.

After being told there was “a large amount of fluid” surrounding his heart, the 58-year-old had life-saving surgery before being discharged a week later.

Previously, the star used her Instagram account to share a video announcing her comeback.

“So I have some news and it’s actually pretty great news,” he began.

“Today is a very special day, to be honest, it was quite emotional because I spoke to the doctors and they said as long as I feel comfortable I can start work. .

“So today I’m back to filming Homes Under The Hammer.”

Clearly with emotion, the presenter continued: “I’m in the valleys of Wales, I never thought I’d be so happy”.

Martin captioned his post, “It was a VERY special day…so I decided I should wear a VERY vibrant shirt to celebrate.”

The video has been enjoyed by his 20,000 followers, with host Lucy Alexander writing: “Wow, I NEVER thought you would be this happy kissing bricks. Oh do why do we love each other [sic] one two up two down in Wales. “

One user added: “Love the shirt. Glad you’re doing great. Be careful.”

Another said: “Great news, honey. Looking forward to seeing you and your tech shirt on Homes Under the Hammer. Be careful, don’t overdo it.”

Recalling his brush after his death, Martin explains how it forced him to change his life and how he is lucky to be still alive.

Talking to SunHe said: “I love to move, I’ve been presenting Homes Under The Hammer for 19 years and I’m determined to make it to 20 next May.

“There’s still a lot I want to achieve, but I know I have to take things slow for now.”
