Horizon MMO is reportedly in the works – and Guerrilla isn’t making it

A PARTNERSHIP has reportedly been arranged for a third party studio to develop an MMO set in the world of Horizon.

The Horizon series has two games so far, with a third coming early next year exclusively for PS VR2.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2017 while the sequel Horizon Forbidden West was released this year.

Both have received critical acclaim, and the upcoming Call of the Mountain will be the big release launch for the upcoming headset.

An updated version of the original game is also reportedly in development for PlayStation 5.

Earlier, developer Guerrilla Games announced that a multiplayer Horizon game is in the works for both PS5 and PC.

However, the newly rumored MMO is apparently separate from the guerrilla-developed multiplayer game.

According to Korean news site MTNand as found by Eurogamera preliminary agreement was reached to develop a Horizon MMO.

The Korean studio NCsoft, which is best known for MMOs like Guild Wars, will apparently lead the development.

A source told MTN that publisher Sony: “Has tentatively agreed to a business partnership in which NC will develop new games using Sony’s promising gaming IP.”

This news follows previous reports that NTsoft is “producing a new Horizon IP game created by Guerrilla Games.”

Like Guerrilla Games’ own multiplayer title Horizon, the potential MMO appears to be in a very early stage of development.

The original studio is currently apparently focused on the PS5 port as well as the upcoming VR game.

Call of the Mountain will feature a new protagonist from the main series, in which players will take on the role of Aloy.

In the upcoming game, players will take on the role of former Shadow Carja Warrior Ryas instead.

The multiplayer game and MMO will likely feature multiple playable characters, which is the standard for the genre.

Another possibility is that players can create their own unique character.
