Hove man charged after woman violently assaulted

A man has been charged with a series of violent crimes and was remanded in custody after an attack in which a woman sustained multiple injuries.

Damian Manning, 33, of Tisbury Road in Hove, has been charged with intentional strangulation, actual bodily harm, threatening to kill and damaging property.

Police were called to a property in Hove on Monday August 29 to report a woman had been violently assaulted.

She suffered multiple injuries to her body and face, as well as a concussion.

Manning was arrested at the scene and remanded in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 30 August.

Detective Chief Inspector Cath O’Connor said: “Protecting women and girls from violence is a key concern for Sussex Police.

“We will always respond proactively to any reports of violence and remove the suspect from the victim to protect them and establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“In this case, we were able to quickly apprehend a suspect, file charges and place him in pre-trial detention where the victim could face no further harm.”
