How a simple button in your car could save you HUNDREDS on fuel bills – where to find it

As petrol prices continue to skyrocket, UK drivers are looking for tips and tricks to save their hard-earned cash wherever they can.
An answer to your petrol prayers, hidden in plain sight, could save you a whopping £200 a year.
A popular TikTok user, Megan’s Bubble, revealed the magic button found in most new cars: the auto start button.
Megan said: “If you have a button in your car that looks like this, it’s your automatic start-stop button.
“It will automatically turn off your vehicle if it’s stationary for an extended period of time, like when you’re at a traffic light or perhaps driving through the Starbucks thoroughfare.
Megan revealed that when driving, the button helps save fuel and even reduce emissions.
According to research by the Institute of the Motor Industry, stop-start technology resulted in a 15 percent improvement in fuel economy.
This saving might seem small, but it would certainly add up over the life of your car.
There’s a catch though: the button’s effectiveness depends on your driving style.
If you use your vehicle for longer trips where you don’t stop often, the button won’t make much of a difference.
If you live in a more urban area where you frequently stop at traffic lights and intersections, the button will turn off the engine if you are idling for a long time.
The engine restarts when the clutch is engaged, the brake is released or the accelerator is floored – making it easier to resume driving after the traffic light has turned green.
The technology is made possible by another vehicle feature that can detect when the car is stopping or not in gear.
If the function detects that the vehicle is stopping, it cuts off the fuel supply and disconnects from the engine.
This is great news for city visitors as the feature will help reduce emissions and improve air quality in urban areas.
And it’s wonderful news for UK drivers, who are expected to spend almost £1300 on petrol in 2023.
Car experts confirm: Start-stop buttons in cars can help customers save up to 15% fuel.
If you have a car with the magic button you can save an additional £200 a year in spending money.

A study by the Polytechnic University of Madrid measured the CO2 emissions of two four-wheel drive vehicles.
A reduction of more than 20% was recorded for the car equipped with the start-stop system.
