FACEBOOK created Messenger — with over 1.3 billion users — an app that lets you message people you’re friends with on the social media platform.
In 2019, Facebook removed the option to use the messaging service without the social media account, but we’ve found ways to do it anyway.
How to use Messenger without Facebook
Facebook had the option of just typing in their phone and using the Messenger app.
In 2019, they decided to relax this feature and required every Messenger user to have a Facebook account.
Luckily, someone found a way to keep using Messenger without having to have Facebook.
If you had a Facebook account and deleted it, you can simply download Messenger from your Apple or Google store, sign in with your old Facebook details, and start using the service.
You don’t have to reopen your Facebook account, but people you’ve been friends with may be able to contact you.
To add more contacts, just add a person’s mobile phone and you’re good to go.
If you’ve never had a Facebook account, you can easily create a blank profile, deactivate it, and continue using Messenger.
Can I use Messenger without the app?
The only way to get Messenger without the app is to access the desktop version of Facebook.
However, you will need a Facebook account to do this.
You can’t do this on your phone because if you try, you’ll be taken to a link to download the Messenger app.
How can I unsubscribe from Messenger?
What sounds like such a simple action, the way to log out of Messenger is not so simple.
You need to select your profile in the Messenger app and it will take you to a list of settings.
Scroll down and select “Account Settings”.
This will take you to a different set of settings, and from there you need to select “Security and Login”.
It will be relayed to all your connected devices.
Just click on the three dots that appear on your connected device and select “Sign out”.
