As part of our monthly cover story, we interviewed Dambuster Studios Lead Render Programmer Aaron Ridge and Technical Art Director Dan Evans-Lawes about the development of Dead Island 2’s FLESH procedural system, which allows players to create zombies from limb to tear to pieces. Fortunately, the pair simplify the tool’s purpose of turning zombie character models into “meat piñatas,” with layers of outer skin protecting internal organs.
