AMANDA Redman is well known as one of Britain’s top actresses thanks to her incredible career.
But when she was a child, she had a horrible accident that left her scarred for life.
How did Amanda Redman get burns on her arm?
AmandaThis year 62 years old, on his left arm has a severe scar from an accident when he was 18 months old.
She was scalded with a simmering pan of turkey and vegetable soup and burned to 75% of her body.
Her arm was the only part of her body that was permanently affected, but the trauma was so severe that she was declared clinically dead at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, Sussex
The TV star has faced repeat surgery for life as her damaged skin needs constant repair as she grows older.
But Amanda defies the mantra that success in the acting business depends on physical perfection as well as ability, proudly showing off the scars on her left arm in public and her TV shows. .
What did Amanda Redman say when she was burned?
In March 2020, Amanda talked about the accident and what happened to her on Gift Day 1958.
Speaking on This Morning, she said: “I pulled this bucket all over my body, it was full of turkey and sauce because it was Christmas and I pulled it on, you could just see my legs.
“I was presumed to be clinically dead. That must have terrified my parents. Of course I don’t remember that.
“My first memories are of the hospital. I remember some horrible things but nothing like my parents.”
Amanda said she doesn’t believe the incident, which left her with a permanent scar on her left arm, has hindered her career.
She said: “Although 90% of my body has been burned, the worst scars are still on me. [left] arm, but that’s it and that’s thanks to the great work of the hospital.
“I really don’t think [it has stopped me getting roles]. I could be wrong but I didn’t think about that. “
Back in 2015, Amanda revealed her mother’s “guilty” about what happened to her.
Until her death in November 2014, her mother, Joan, was haunted by her daughter’s cries when she made her own boiling soup as a child.
Talk to show, Amanda said: “For the rest of the days, my mom will get chills down her spine whenever she hears her baby cry that reminds her of that day.
“Like any parent whose child was injured when she turned her back, I think she felt very guilty.
“Even though it was just a terrible accident, it stayed with her all those years.”
