How does it feel to watch Mark Ruffalo play Hulk on set

According to Maslany, “Mark was very open to any of my processes when it came to She-Hulk, he was never prescriptive.” This is a great thing to hear, as it’s a testament to Ruffalo’s respect for his co-stars and the realization that not all actors have the same approach to the acting process.

Maslany has said that she was able to witness something unbelievable, an indication of what happens when someone spends so much time playing the same character: “He lay down on the ground outside as Bruce, and then he got up as Hulk, like, actually from a lying down position, he suddenly stood.” What Maslany witnessed is Ruffalo performing a kip-up, an acrobatic move commonly seen in martial arts, diving and professional wrestling, in which a person lying on his back jumps up and into a standing position.

“It looks completely inhumane,” Maslany said. “And I was like, oh, that’s what 10 years of playing this character and embodying his physicality and being inside of him… you can do such fun things.” To make things more interesting, Ruffalo has expressed that other than being in “Hulk mode”, he can’t do a kip-up. If someone asked Ruffalo, that person, to try a kip-up, he told them it would be hard for him to do it. It’s incredible how completely mind and body can transform when an actor is actually in the moment.

“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” will air on Disney+ on August 18, 2022.
