It’s unclear when Gogglebox will be able to take on any more families at the moment as the new series has just begun.
However, in the past, people could express interest in being on the show by contacting show producer Studio Lambert – but that’s no longer the route.
Last September, the producers kicked off the recruitment drive following the grieving deaths of three Goggleboxers – Mary Cook, Andrew Michael and Pete McGarry. Mary’s best friend Marina, Pete’s wife Linda and Andrew’s wife Carolyne and children Alex and Louis all decided to leave the show following their tragic losses.
Meanwhile, Paige Deville and her mother Sally leave Gogglebox after an intense family feud, Sally demeaning the show’s showrunners for not providing her with adequate care.
Executive producer Victoria Ray explains that as a result, bosses are eyeing fresh faces and says hopeful candidates must be “charming and engaging”.
“We choose people who don’t want to talk on the phone,” she added.
“The ideal people are the ones who don’t know that they’re funny.”
However, there is no public registration process, and a spokesperson confirmed: “There is no way to apply to be on Gogglebox.”
Many current stars have been approached by casting directors, with the production company saying they are looking for family or friends with “strong and exciting” perspectives.
Talking about the selection process for the show, creator Stephen Lambert said in 2015: “Everybody on Gogglebox was found and convinced to be on the show, and I think that’s the key to why they were chosen. favorite and why the show works, because we get to know these people.”
He added: “We’ve never advertised to people on Gogglebox.”
