The Russian foreign minister’s stepdaughter has been living a lavish life in a £4 million flat in Kensington.

Campaigners are calling for Polina Kovaleva, 26, to be punished after appearing on Thursday that she was based in the lavish west London compound.

Russian activists reveal Kovaleva is the stepdaughter of Sergey Lavrov, who became a key figure in the invasion of Ukraine.

To some, he was the spokesman for the doom of Vladamir Putin following his recent statements that World War III would be “nuclear and destructive” in terms of threat to NATO and the West.

Lavrov is said to be the unofficial husband of Kovaleva’s mother Svetlana Polyakova, reports Time.

The couple is said to have been in a relationship since the early 2000s.

Kovaleva bought her Kensington flat for £4.4 million without a mortgage in 2016 when she was 21, according to Land Registry documents.

The property is part of an award-winning project with a swimming pool, gym, spa, cinema, golf simulator, games room and views of Kensington and Holland Park.

Kovaleva now shares an apartment with a man believed to be her partner, who has a 10% stake in the investment company she runs.

Meanwhile, her mother Polyakova owns a £5 million apartment in Moscow and accompanies Lavrov on all his foreign trips, according to FBK.

The anti-corruption organization is run by jailed opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

London is not the first UK campus for Kovaleva, having studied at a private boarding school in Bristol and went on to earn a first-class degree in economics and politics at Loughborough University.

She then moved to the capital to study for a master’s degree in economics and business strategy at Imperial College London.

Her impressive education was followed by a role at Russian energy giant Gazprom, working on mergers and acquisitions, then a job at mining company Glencore.

Kovaleva’s connection to Lavrov was revealed by FBK investigator Maria Pevchikh.

On Thursday, she called for her stepdaughter and family to be sanctioned.

“Polina’s biological father is not super rich. She doesn’t have an oligarchic husband,” she said.

“But at the age of 21, she bought this flat in London, on Kensington High Street for £4.4 million.”

Pevchikh said Kovaleva’s only financial source is her mother, who is unemployed and happens to be Lavrov’s unofficial wife.

She calls it a “textbook example” of unexplained wealth and says the property can legally be confiscated.

She added: “Foreign Minister Lavrov has given many speeches about the evil Anglo-Saxon world and the terrible liberal Western countries that want to destroy Russia and Ukraine.

“So why on Earth does his stepdaughter live in central London? Why not in the Crimea or the Donbas, why doesn’t she move there?”

It’s unknown Kovaleva is currently in London.

Kovaleva’s social media presence disappeared shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, with her accounts deleted.
