Motorists have continued to grapple with fuel issues this spring, including high prices and some shortages at some pumps.

Long lines of vehicles like those seen in late 2021 when there was a shortage were not seen, but some gas stations were reported to be without fuel.

Car prices are currently high due to a number of factors such as: B. Already high demand, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, but Britain is said to have enough resources to manage and avoid future shortages despite rising prices.

Some motorists have reported shortages of petrol or diesel at some petrol stations across the country this week, meaning some petrol stations have been affected, including in the south-east.

One of the best ways to check if a gas station near you has a good supply of diesel is via Google Maps.

Make sure your location is enabled, search for gas stations near you and click on the nearest one.

Google has a tool that lets you know how busy that station is at any given time, and the busier it is, the higher the bar.

A high bar may indicate that the station is busier because it has fuel, although this does not take into account factors such as the local population.

Gasoline prices compare the cheapest prices from gas stations in your area and you can first check where the cheapest fuel is before seeing if that gas station is busy.

The Waze app also has a feature that lets you know how heavy traffic is nearby, so you might want to see if there’s heavy traffic in case you’re worried about running out of gas, or if that shows that a gas station has fuel where there couldn’t be anywhere else.

Recent disruptions to diesel and petrol pumps in south-east England could have been caused by climate protests.

Climate campaign groups Just Stop Oil and Extinction Rebellion are targeting Britain’s oil supply lines.

One campaigner said: “It seems many people are struggling to get their petrol and that is because we believe the Just Stop Oil coalition is currently meeting its objective of shutting down petrol and oil supplies in the UK To block.”

Due to the high global demand, there was already a price problem, which was exacerbated by the war in Ukraine.

Much of Europe gets much of its gas and oil from Russia, but sanctions mean this is being phased out. It’s not that big of a problem for the UK, as it gets around 8% of its total oil imports from the country and has pledged to phase out all Russian oil by the end of the year.

However, Europe is far more dependent on Russia for energy, and that means that if countries like Germany turn away from Russia, which accounts for about a third of their oil supply, they will have to compete with the rest of the world for oil.

The move away from Russian energy means there may be less of it circulating elsewhere.

When competition is greater, there is more demand and prices rise.
