But there’s a great way to keep your gifts a secret.

If you’re buying something for a loved one on Amazon, you can easily hide the order.

It only takes a few seconds and could be a lifesaver over the holidays.

This is how easy it is to order secret Christmas gifts.

And the feature is built into every Amazon account for free.

How to hide an Amazon order

First, log in to your Amazon account, then click “Returns & Orders” in the top right corner.

Here you can see a list of your orders from the last three months.

You’ll need to scroll through this list to find the item you want to hide.

You can also search the item in the search bar.

Then click View Order Details.

Next, double-click “Archive Order” when the option appears.

What you ordered at the same time as the item is also archived.

This will remove the item from your order list.

However, it is still technically viewable in archives.

You would have to find it on the less obvious Amazon Archived Orders page.

If you’re still concerned, you can set up an Amazon household account.

This gives you and your partner separate account pages, but the same payment method and address.

Up to four teenagers and children can also be added to an Amazon household account.

How to hide Amazon orders from Alexa

You can also prevent your Amazon account from informing your smart speaker of what you have ordered.

Open the Alexa app on your phone and go to “Settings”.

Search for “Notifications” and then click “Amazon Shopping”.

Find the section that says “Say or show article title” and turn that option off.

Now Alexa can tell you when a package will be delivered, but it won’t say exactly what the package is, lest Christmas or a birthday be ruined.
