Many people use Facebook as a huge photo store.

In 2014, Facebook revealed that users had uploaded more than 250 billion photos.

So before you cancel the app and delete your Facebook account, you need to download your Facebook photo first.

How to save all your Facebook photos

Facebook has an archive feature that allows you to download all your Facebook data.

This creates a large file that you can save to your computer.

So if you ever delete Facebook, you’ll still have access to all your stuff:

The important point is that this folder will contain all your photos that you have ever uploaded to Facebook (unless you deleted them).

Sadly, if you have beautiful high-quality photos on Facebook, they will be massively downgraded during the download process.

Facebook will resize and compress your uploaded photos to a much smaller file size.

If you want to download high-resolution originals, you’re in trouble – Facebook doesn’t offer this and it sucks.

Step 1

On your screen, log into your Facebook account and go into account settings and under General Account Settings scroll to the bottom and click Download a copy link.

Step 3

When the next screen appears, select Start My Archive. It will prepare for a few minutes and then you will receive an email when it is ready to download.

Step 4

You will then receive an email with the subject line ‘Your Facebook download is ready’. Then click on the link provided and start the download.

Step 5

Download the data zip file from your profile and choose a location for it to appear on your computer.

In the future, if you’re uploading photos to Facebook, make sure to keep copies stored on your phone or computer to prevent them from being corrupted by Facebook’s compression software.
