APPLE is about to host a “special event” – and a new iPhone may be on the horizon.
We’ve got all the details about the big event, including when and where to watch it live.
What is the Apple Peek performance event?
The next Apple event will take place on March 8th.
It’s called “Peek Performance” – a mysterious title that doesn’t really tell us much.
What we do know is that it will start at 10 a.m. local time in Apple’s home of California.
That means New Yorkers can watch at 1pm and Londoners tune in at 6pm.
When is the Apple Spring Event? How to watch live
This event will be entirely virtual.
That’s been the case at every Apple event since the pandemic shut down the world.
Physical events could return at some point – but March 8th will only be a distant event.
Either way, it will continue to be streamed live to the world for free.
You can watch it on Apple’s official events page.
That will likely go live in the hour leading up to the event.

What to Expect from the Apple Peek Performance Event on March 8th – News and Rumors
That should be the main event iPhone SE3.
The iPhone SE is Apple’s cheapest smartphone.
A first generation model was launched back in 2016, followed by a second generation variant in 2020.
Now Apple is expected to release the iPhone SE 3 in a few days.
We spoke to Ben Wood, analyst at CCS Insight, about the new phone.
“iPhone SE is an important franchise for Apple and provides the most affordable starting point for people who often buy iPhones for the first time,” Ben told The Sun.
“It’s also perfect for people who need a phone but don’t want all the bells and whistles.
“Apple will likely continue its usual approach of making incremental improvements in all areas like processor performance, battery life, and display.
“The other big story will be the addition of 5G.
“All operators in the UK are keen to get as many people on 5G as possible and it’s crucial that the entry-level iPhone supports this technology.”
A leak earlier this year suggested that the new iPhone would go into production in January.
That’s what industry insiders and Apple analysts say Ross Young.
Apple usually announces new iPhone models in September.
But the company has unveiled a handful of iPhones at events this spring.
It would be part of the cheaper iPhone SE range – which doesn’t currently have a 5G option.
Apple only started offering 5G phones in 2020 with the iPhone 12.
Since then, the iPhone 13 range has also been launched with 5G on board.
Bloomberg journalist and longtime Apple leaker Mark Gurman also says an iPhone SE 3 is on the way.
This handset is expected to launch in March or April, the Apple insider said in a newsletter.
According to Gurman, his sources did not specifically confirm that the device would be called the iPhone SE 3.
But given Apple’s history, it seems likely.
The iPhone SE stands for Special Edition and was launched in 2016.
It was designed as a cheaper option that ran alongside the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
This proved popular, so Apple repeated it in 2020 with the iPhone SE 2.
The device was launched with the iPhone 11 but inherited most of its design from the iPhone 8.
However, it came with more powerful components than the iPhone 8 – and was significantly cheaper than the iPhone 11.
This event will be entirely virtual.
That’s in contrast to Apple’s pre-pandemic storefronts, which were glitzy live affairs full of media and gadget influencers.
Apple is reportedly planning an iPhone 8-style device with a 4.7-inch display — and a Touch ID button on the front.
But the phone is likely to feature updated hardware, including a faster processor and a more powerful camera.
Rumors suggest so it only costs $299 — and the old iPhone SE will drop to an even lower $199.
The big news would be the arrival of 5G, which is now more widely supported in the US and UK.
We’re also expecting a more powerful iPad Air with a newer custom A-series chip.
And a newer Mac is also planned.
