A HUGE statue of a naked man erected near a busy road has been criticized for distracting motorists.
Motorists are slowing down on a single 40mph road to gawk at the 26ft sculpture.
And some even flocked to get a closer look at the towering bronze artwork of East Anglia.
One resident in Yoxford, Suffolk, said: ‘It can cause an accident because it’s distracting.
“The A12 is a very busy road and people can’t help but look at the description of a naked man in all his glory as they are driving past.”
Another local added: “The time of the statue’s existence is quite remarkable. Your eyes are always attracted to it.
“It caused a lot of debate with some arguing that his package was actually quite large while others suggested it was proportionate to his height.”
The sculpture – named Yoxman – weighs eight tons and stands proudly in the grounds of Cockfield Hall.
Sculptor Laurence Edwards, who lives in the village, created the piece for property billionaire Jon Hunt.
“I think that’s wonderful,” said parish council president Russell Pearce.
People have suggested that it is Suffolk’s answer to the Angel of the North.
