Russia this month accused Ukraine of attacking a fuel depot in Belgorod with helicopters and opening fire on several villages in the province.
Belgorod province borders Ukraine’s Luhansk, Sumy and Kharkiv regions, all of which have seen heavy fighting since Russia invaded Ukraine two months ago.
Alleged attacks by a more confident Ukraine were also observed in the Voronezh and Kursk regions.
In Kursk, there were unconfirmed reports that Russian air defenses shot down Ukrainian military drones.
Explosions could be heard in towns off Kursk, and in Oboyan locals said they heard military planes flying overhead.
In the Voronezh region, there were reports that Russian air defenses were active to repel an attack on the Baltimore strategic military airbase.
