The bold message was painted in black paint across an empty business unit in Plymouth, Devon, with locals stopping to take photos while many suspect it is a joke
A mysterious marriage proposal has been painted on an empty shop.
Scrawled across the empty unit’s whitewashed windows in Plymouth, Devon, the bold message has attracted the attention of locals – many of whom have stopped to take photos.
The painted black lettering on Drake Circus reads, ‘Lauren Marry Me? Ralph Age 82.”
The proposal was described as “cute,” reports PlymouthLive.
A reader wrote on Facebook that it could be 82-year-old fashion designer Ralph Lauren.
Another agreed: “They’ve been making jokes about Ralph Lauren there for ages.”
A third said: “Sugar Daddy.”
And a fourth: “Omg this is bad, this is worse than people trying to propose out loud in a public space.”
The message spills over onto the door handles of the former Connells Estate Agents.
It is set to become trendy Bar Grow later this year, which will also include a kitchen, ecosystem studios and event space.
The owners opened their first unit in Hackney, London and have now decided to expand to the port city.
An opening date has not yet been confirmed.
Information about the Grow, Plymouth website It says: “Grow, Plymouth will be an independent ecosystem of studios and venues with bar & kitchen, based in Plymouth’s cultural district.
“Opening in 2022, expect a collective approach with a focus on sustainability and arts/culture at grassroots level.
“We welcome ideas for collaborations and how we can best serve the community.”
