Hugh Bonneville to explore parentage in a new ITV series

Actor Hugh Bonneville will discover his ancestors in a new TV series later this year.

The Downton Abbey star, who lives near Midhurst, will appear on the ITV show DNA Journey, in which four celebrity couples dig up their pasts and make life-changing discoveries in South Africa, Ireland and Norwich.

Mr Bonneville is paired with Liverpool comedian John Bishop on the show.

Kathleen Larkin, Executive Producer at Voltage TV, said, “This emotional series contains some stunning revelations that show some of our celebrity couples are more connected than they ever dreamed.”

Speaking of the upcoming series, Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning, said: “DNA Journey delves deep into the celebrity’s family history and has unearthed some amazing revelations in recent years.

“It’s great to see these famous faces sharing their journey together and we have another great line-up with more intriguing surprises.”

DNA Journey returns on ITV1 and ITVX later this year.
