Hundreds take part in the annual Brighton Pride dog show

HUNDREDS of dog owners and dog lovers flocked to one of the city’s largest parks for an annual dog show.

At the Pride Community Day and Dog Show, part of Brighton’s Pride celebrations, industry experts judged dogs in a range of categories including smart attire, best rescue and wagging tails.

Among those attending the Preston Park event was Edna the greyhound, who wowed the judges with rainbow wings.

Edna’s owner, Alison Wood of Brighton and Hove Retired Greyhound Trust, said: “Today was really nice, it was a really nice event for people to get together.

“I hope people will realize what lovely pets greyhounds must have.”

Gareth Theobald, who was dating his border terrier Cilla, said: “Today was a great day to get together with all my pals and share our love of dogs.”

In addition to the awards, dog owners were able to browse a selection of booths, enjoy live music performances and have their photo taken with their pets at a booth hosted by award-winning photographer Chris Jepson.

The event was due to take place in July but was postponed due to the heatwave which caused temperatures to soar above 30C in Brighton and Hove.

Coming just weeks after singer Christina Aguilera headlined this year’s Pride festival, the dog show thrilled thousands as in-person celebrations returned for the first time since the pandemic began.

Todrick Hall, Ella Henderson and Paloma Fiath also took to the main stage at the two-day festival earlier this month. Hundreds take part in the annual Brighton Pride dog show
