I bought 200 Land Rover Defenders in 2015 and put them in a barn – now it’s sold out, people are paying me £220,000 to have one

A MAN who ordered more than 200 Land Rover Defenders before the 2015 model went out of sale is now being paid by people paying him up to £220,000 to have one.
The man in question is Charles Fawcett, owner and founder of Twisted – a company specializing in custom modified Defenders.
twisted has processed the stored Land Rovers and is now offering another 16 potential buyers.
The vehicles have less than 30 miles on the clock and there are only two Defenders in each of the eight colors up for grabs.

All are based on the original XS specification, which was the highest Land Rover Defender specification at the time.
Fawcett explained: “I went to the Defender production line in Solihull to meet the men and women who build the vehicles.
“These sixteen 110s were handpicked based on their VIN and year of manufacture.
“They were all registered in 2016 – after production ceased – making them some of the last off tape and arguably more collectible.
“They are special, and when they are twisted, everyone is unique. Therefore the limited edition is called One of One.”
In 2015, a Defender 110 XS cost around £35,000 to buy, but these 16 twisted versions are very different from the original.
Each customer can choose between a petrol or diesel engine, but all 16 get upgraded suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, and modern LED lighting.
Inside there’s leather, more soundproofing and an infotainment system that brings Apple CarPlay.
But the Twisted boss admitted you can reasonably have what you want: “All 16 will be Twisted, but exactly how depends on the customer’s lifestyle and tastes.
“The Twisted way isn’t about telling people what their Defender should be, it’s about working with them to create a Defender that’s best for them.”
The 16 Defenders released start at £135,000 + VAT for the diesel and rise to £184,500 + VAT for the more powerful petrol version.
The order books are now open and your shiny new old Twisted Defender will be arriving next year.
