Leading up to your wedding day, most people imagine how their life will change once they start dating their spouse.

But when they deal with what could be, some realize they’re marrying the wrong person — and choose to back down before it’s too late.

A man has revealed the moment he realized he’d made a mistake after his bride-to-be almost killed his dog through ‘neglect’.

The 28-year-old told Reddit: “My fiancee and I have been together for four years and engaged for six months.

“I also have a seven-year-old lab mix who is the most amazing dog there is.

“On Saturday the fiancee had a bachelor party at home. I stayed with my parents but I left the dog with her because she likes having him with her.

“But I told her to bring the dog into our bedroom as soon as the party started.

“But on Sunday at 5 a.m. I get a frantic call that something is wrong with the dog.”

The 27-year-old woman and her friends were too busy to think about their dog, leaving alcohol and chocolate edibles within reach of the curious pooch.

“She was drunk. I told her to take a cab and go to the vet clinic,” he added.

“When I got there she looked like she hadn’t stopped crying for hours and she couldn’t even speak.

He realized he was marrying the wrong woman

“Two of her friends were there so they told me my dog was alive but not well. I felt sorry for her for a full 10 minutes while waiting for the doctor.

“But then the doctor told me that my dog was consuming large amounts of alcohol and chocolate edibles.

“The girls apparently thought it would be cool to leave everything on short coffee tables, let the dog run around instead of bringing him into our bedroom, and then finish and not realize he was with the alcohol and edibles in the city goes. “

It was as soon as they got home that he told his bride-to-be to pack her bags and “get out of his house and life.”

He added: “I told her to tell her guests that the wedding is canceled and I will tell mine. She was shocked but took her things and left.

“Two hours later I am bombarded with messages on Messenger, Whatsapp, from her sisters, brother, her brother’s wife, her mother and her friends telling me I’m crazy for doing this to her after four years.

“They started defending her, but it quickly became an insult to me.

After trying to turn to his family and friends for comfort, he soon realized they were on her side, too.

“My mom said, ‘Well it was a mistake, she didn’t do it on purpose, plus the dog didn’t die!’ I was lucky, huh? My dog didn’t die!

“My sister was appalled that the wedding was ‘about it!’ canceled. and even my best man said I might have overreacted.

“Our relationship has had its ups and downs, but for the most part it’s worked out well.

“But I’m so disgusted with my fiancee that I can’t even imagine looking into her eyes, let alone spending my whole life with her. She’s not 17, she’s 27!”

He eventually turned to Reddit for advice, explaining how his bride-to-be would do other “stupid things” like B. texting while driving and leaving cutting boards on the electric stove.

“Posting here made me conclude that this isn’t about the dog at all,” he added.

“She’s careless and irresponsible and I don’t want to stay here and see how one day our child might die in a car accident because she texted or forgot to put his seat belt on.

“I’d rather be an asshole right now than spend years of my life worrying every time our child is left alone with her.

“If she accidentally killed someone texting and driving, I would leave her too.

“I think I’ve realized that I don’t want to spend my life with someone who has such a blatant disregard for human (or animal) life.”

While most users agreed that he was marrying the wrong woman, others spoke out that the woman’s reckless behavior should be enough as a “red flag.”

One user said: “The only person here who has a straight head is you.

“Your head is so straight you know you have to handle the mental burden of everyday life for both of you.

“Regardless of her innocence, intent, or possible diagnosis, she makes poor decisions and cannot be trusted.

“Your family and friends love them as you once loved them, but unlike you, they can enjoy all the benefits of their friendship without it compromising their peace of mind. You are not obliged to marry her.

“It is evident that your constant thoughtlessness and irresponsibility has become a burden for you that others do not have to bear.

“She’s meant to be an equal partner, not a child to look after. Very unsexy to feel like a parent in a relationship.”

Another user added: “This level of carelessness could lead to death. What would people say if she did the same thing with a kid nearby?

“It’s pretty obvious how you’re feeling, getting out now seems like a better option than letting this fester until the divorce.”
