“I despise my girlfriend’s baby name choice and lied for her sake – it backfired”
Sometimes we lie to save the feelings of someone we love – but a friend went too far when he lied about liking his friend’s baby name but couldn’t hide his true feelings

If your friend tells you their favorite baby name and you don’t like it – what would you do?
Some people would be okay with it and admit they’re not that big of a fan, but others would lie to their boyfriend to spare their feelings.
A woman admitted to lying to her friend and accepted it mom net ask for advice on what to do next.
She wrote: “A friend told me today that she chose the name Susan for her baby. Personally, I don’t like him, but I automatically said ‘Oh, that’s nice’.
“She just WhatsApped me if I really liked the name as she felt I didn’t like it (oops I’m a fucking liar).
“Would it be unreasonable to admit that I don’t? Or should I keep lying about it? (Which I can do more easily via WhatsApp!)”

People gave advice to the woman on how to answer openly and honestly so that she doesn’t hurt her friend’s feelings.
One said to say: “It’s not a name I would choose but it’s not my baby. If you love the name, use it.”
Others suggested a friendlier approach, commenting: “Keep your honest opinion to yourself, she won’t thank you. While I agree it’s not a name I love, she clearly loves it.”
Some people even went so far as to say they love the name, writing, “It’s a great classic name. Susie, Suze, Sue, all cool short versions. Every Susan I have ever known has been a fabulous person!”
“Don’t tell her you don’t like it, you’ll only upset your girlfriend. It’s a pretty “regular” name and not like she’s going to saddle a kid with anything really awkward,” suggested another.
One wrote: “You don’t tell her you don’t like her choice of name. It’s not your baby she’s naming, it’s hers. You say it’s a beautiful classic name and you’re so excited that you will all be soon to meet their baby. This is how a supportive friend behaves.”
