“I forced my husband to cut his hair the way I wanted it – it was going so badly”

A wife feels conflicted after forcing her husband to have his hair cut according to her instructions – only for the barber to cut his hair into a “feminine” bob style

Have you ever felt personally bullied by your partner’s clothing style? Or specifically her choice of hairstyle?

A wife took things to the extreme after using her personal hairstylist to dictate her husband’s haircut.

Following the Covid-19 lockdown, forced closures of non-essential shops, including hairdressers, a user on Mumsnet has described how her partner’s hair was out of control with “shaggy” shoulder-length hair.

The husband in question reportedly didn’t take care of his hair and would “happily go six months between cuts,” and things got worse during the pandemic.

According to the woman, enough was enough – and she booked her partner for an appointment and left the hairdresser with instructions.

She explained: “Lockdown has seen him go over two years without a cut so he had shoulder length hair tied in a scruffy man’s bun.

“I finally had enough of it, so I made him an appointment with my hairstylist, Jo.

“I told her he wanted to keep some of the length, but I wanted it to be too short to tie in a bun. Other than that, she was free to let her imagination run wild,” she added.

However, the woman described her complete shock when she realized her hairdresser had been a bit too revealing with her husband’s hair.

She was “conflicted” as the end result left her husband with a feminine style despite her demands.

She said: “She gave him a bob! A full-on, stacked A-line bob with a high crown, side-swept fringes and tips that curled under his chin.

“It would look really cute on a woman, but on a man? Anyway, he likes it, Jo explained that she stuck to the spec.”

Though the hairstylist insisted they follow the “letter,” the user described it as “a little over the top.”

The woman added: “He even went back to Jo last week to have it trimmed again as she had told him it needs to be trimmed every 6 weeks to keep its shape.

“So I got conflicted. On the one hand, it’s his hair,” she explained. “Others who have commented seem to like it and I have to accept that it’s neat and tidy and kinda suits him.

“On the other hand, it’s a bloody bob!”

Users flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts on the ordeal – and the comments were seemingly controversial.

One user wrote, “As long as it’s clean and he gets it trimmed regularly, it’s really up to him.”

Another greed: “What do you think you’re doing by giving him instructions on how to cut his hair?

“Mind your own business, it’s none of your business. Hope you’ve learned your lesson now.

“I bet he and Jo dreamed this up together to do just that,” he added.
