The girlfriend of a Brit who was attacked to death with a sickle in Thailand has revealed how she saw his lifeless body
Heartbroken Wassana Muanchit, 33, also revealed that she had looked into the eyes of the alleged killer of Marcus Evans and asked him why he had attacked “the love of her life”.
49 years old, from Weston-super-Mare was placed in an attack at 3 a.m. when he and his best friend Shaun Dagnan, 50, were in a row over loud music.
Police found the wounded and bloody couple with Marcus lying face down in a pool of blood, shirtless and with a knife wound to his neck.
Local man Prasut Thipthep, 23, was taken into custody following the attack after he was arrested hours after the horrific incident in Kanchanaburi, 90 kilometers from Bangkok
Wassana said Marcus went back to their house to get another beer while he and his friends were listening to music.
“That was the last time I saw him alive,” she said.
“After a few drinks, he came back to my room to get a beer. He didn’t look drunk, he looked normal, and he brought a bottle of that beer outside.
“When I go out late at night, it’s like normal. Nothing noisy, it’s quiet and no sound.
“When I was walking home, a neighbor came and told me to go see my husband and she kept repeating and telling me to go see him.
“The neighbor said he was lying on the floor. When I got out, I found out he was dead.”
The mother of one devastated person said: “I lost my mind because I loved him so much. He is the love of my life.”
After the suspect was arrested, Wassana said police allowed her to speak to him.
“I looked him in the eye. I am still very angry with him. I asked him “why did you kill me?”, she said.
“I told him I was mad at him. I said ‘why can’t you talk or ask nicely? You can tell me or call the police, but you shouldn’t kill him’. “
‘OUT OF MY HEAD’
She expressed her emotion at her partner’s kindness and generosity.
“He was the primary provider, he supported me and my daughter,” she said.
“He gave me a monthly allowance and my expenses were quite high, but my husband took great care of me. Now I don’t know what to do because I won’t have anyone to support me”.
Meanwhile Shaun, from Nuneaton, is recovering in hospital after being injured in the attack.
Locals said he went to Thailand before Christmas to spend time with his girlfriend Nong Pranee.
A neighbor named Kirsten described the news of the attack as “shocking”.
“I just hope he makes it through. He will be in my thoughts and prayers,” the woman said.
‘LOOK INTO YOUR EYES’
“He went to Thailand for many months to see his girlfriend. He goes there whenever he can and always seems to have a good time.
“He is a good person but he lives privately and keeps to himself. I lived two doors away from him for five years but I didn’t know him, just to say hello because he was often away.”
Police Lieutenant General Thanayut Vuthijarathamrong, who is leading the investigation, said: “The defendant confessed that the cause of death stemmed from a disagreement with the deceased.”
He said officers and experts will now assess whether the suspect “was fully conscious at the time of the attack”.
“But initially, two serious charges were brought against the perpetrator, one count of willful manslaughter and another count of attempted murder.”
