A DEATH woman says she was contacted by her husband’s beloved child after he matched his parents’ DNA on an ancestry-tracing website.
The heartbroken wife said she and her husband of 34 years had posted their DNA on the website so she feared he might be the father of the man in contact.
Not knowing what to do next, she has to do Mumsnet to explain the situation and get some advice.
She said: “I am in shock and I don’t know what to do.
“I have just been contacted by a young man who has made a [ancestry website] DNA test.
“He said the website indicated that there was a match between my parents and my husband.
“I know we did these things so they had our DNA on the system but I have to say my husband wasn’t interested in it at the time.
“I’m completely shocked. He’s at work right now and I don’t know how I’m going to face him later.
“Can this be wrong? Is this man lying to get money?”
“Has anyone ever had a similar experience and gotten to the bottom of this?! I’m literally shaking with anxiety and anger.”
She added: “Such 25-year-old man has had nine years of our marriage. I was also pregnant with my third child at the time! I was furious because there was a possibility that he had an affair. .”
The Mumsnet users quickly began to think.
One said: “I’m so sorry you’ve been put in his shoes. I’ll be looking very carefully at this time so you can come to the truth.
“Your head must be spinning. But you need to discuss this with your husband. Tonight.”
I know we did these things so they had our DNA on the system but I have to say my husband wasn’t interested in it at the time.
Another said: “Several years ago, a friend, who until then believed he had no children, was contacted by a young man saying he was his.
“It was undeniable when they met because he looked like he and his friend had been in a relationship with his mother almost two decades earlier – and had never been told he had a son. Because. So what happens is that some fathers are never told.”
While a third said: “My niece’s father tried to get my daughter to sign an NDA stating that she would never name her father.
“There are men who completely and deliberately deny the existence of their children.”
Another said: “I can’t even imagine how you must feel.”
