But he noticed “bubbles” in the paint on the right-hand door when he took his car for a wash just a week after buying the expensive engine.

Believing the damage was caused by rust, Martin contacted Porsche to make a warranty claim and they booked him in to have his vehicle checked.

However, workers at a Derby body shop reportedly told Martin the damage looked like it had been caused by a rock. reports Derbyshire Live.

Martin, an installation manager at a security company, said: “It’s absolutely stupid, I’ve had BMWs and Audis that have never rusted like this.

“It’s so frustrating how much money Porsche is asking, but I can’t deal with this guarantee.

“I want Porsche to take responsibility and get the bodywork done and repaired and the manufacturer error fixed. I just want it sorted.

“I noticed the door problem within the first week because you don’t really see it at first but you can feel it when you wash your car and I thought ‘this isn’t right’. I’ve had cars with a lot more mileage on the clock with no problems.”

Martin, off Nottinghamshirehas a certificate from Porsche on his car stating that the manufacturer has a 12-year guarantee against rust holes in the bodywork.

To get a second opinion, Martin took his car to a body shop called Impact Accident Repairs.

The staff reportedly removed the paneling from the underside of the door and found that there was rust in the door as well as a rust blister on the front of the left wing.

They concluded that it wasn’t properly sealed and allowed water in and that it was the manufacturer’s fault.

Mr Connelly sent the report to Porsche and claims it was ignored.

He says the German manufacturer’s decision not to accept liability means it has sent the information to the Motor Ombudsman.

Bill Fennell, Chief Ombudsman and Managing Director of The Motor Ombudsman, said: “We have received the evidence from Mr Connelly and the company that is the subject of the dispute and a decision will be made shortly by an arbitrator once they have verified all the facts in the case related to the case.”

Porsche Cars GB said it was unable to comment.
