A MAN has shown off its incredible collection of movie cars worth up to £400,000.
Some of Peter Dale’s engines have appeared in cult films such as Ghostbusters, Starsky and Hutch and Knight Rider.
The 42-year-old film fanatic from Manchester also owns one of Only Fools and Horses’ yellow three-wheeler vans.
He values his collection at around £400,000.
He said: “I have a 1962 pink Cadillac like Grease’s, a Chevrolet Nova from the movie Deathproof and a Ford Gran Torino from Starsky and Hutch.
“I buy the cars for a fraction of their value as they often need to be assembled and restored.
“I took a night course to learn how to weld, so now I can do all the work myself.
“I might buy a car for £10,000, but then it goes up to £50,000 after I’ve worked on it.
“It’s hard to pinpoint the exact value as I don’t value my own time.
“But I saw a Ghostbusters Ecto-1 sold for £200,000.”
The Only Fools and Horses superfan was inspired by the sitcom’s comic entrepreneur Del Boy.
He adds: “I’ve always loved the program and it’s the reason I started my own business.
“A Reliant Regal was the first car I bought on eBay in 2016 for £6,000.
“The collection just grew from there.
“I didn’t want to rent the cars at first, but Channel 4 contacted me about David Jason’s Great British Inventions.
“It was incredible to meet him – he was very pleasant.”
Peter has attracted attention from those around him by switching between the iconic vehicles to do his grocery shopping.
He said: “I can’t keep the cars locked up in storage all the time, so I drive them around.
“People are often shocked and take pictures.
“The Ghostbuster car in particular gets the most attention.
“I definitely have to keep my sanity when people are filming [me] while driving, so I have to be careful not to collide!”
He is currently working on Back to the Futures Delorean, the A-Team Van and the Batmobile to name a few.
Peter adds, “I believe there are only two Pontiac national ambulances left in the world and I am restoring one of them.
“I’m also building a rare three-wheel convertible and a Firebird car from Smokey and the Bandit.”
