I have parked my Ford Escort in the same spot for more than 15 YEARS

A car owner says he’s finally planning to move his ivy-covered Ford after parking it in the same lot for more than 15 years.

Tim Ward said he left his red motor, a late 1990s Escort, in 2005 in a room he owns outside his former family home in Bradford, West Mids.

But he hasn’t touched the vehicle since then and only small parts of it are visible after being encased in ivy for the past three years.

The doting son explained he was asked by his mother, who lived across the street, to leave the car there so that she would feel safe and remember him after he moved out.

But it has remained there since her death in 2016, and Tim says it has an emotional bond with his late mother.

He said: “The car has been there since 2005 or 2006. It just stayed there. Over the years my mother has cleaned it of branches and occasionally started it.

“The license plate on it was more valuable than the car. After my mother died, I didn’t have the heart to move it.

“It didn’t grow until my mother died. It’s grown over the last two or three years.

“It’s not laziness why we didn’t take it away, it was the emotional side.”

Tim said the overgrown Ford had become a local “landmark” and explained he considered converting it into a coffee shop at some point.

He said: “It’s getting more and more overgrown. I wanted to try turning it into a coffee bar at some point because of the interest in it.

“It’s almost a landmark. It was originally a parking lot for the house.

“It’s no longer an eyesore since it’s gone. It’s become a joke with my neighbors.

Tim said six years after his mother’s death, he’s finally ready to move the ailing Ford, which he plans to pull out of the ivy by the end of April.

He added: “My mum appreciated being there so much so it’s been too hard to take away so far. It was just quite emotional to do that.

“He has to go. I’ll get rid of him by the end of April. Enough time has passed now.
